Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is a public company wholly owned by Government of Ontario. OPG is responsible for approximately 60% of the electricity generation in the Province of Ontario, Canada. Sources of electricity include nuclear, hydroelectric, wind, solar and fossil fuel. Although Ontario has an open electricity market, the provincial government, as OPG's sole shareholder, regulated the price the company receives for its electricity to be less than the market average, in an attempt to stabilize prices. As of 1 April 2008, the company's rates have been regulated by the Ontario Energy Board.

Famous quotes containing the words power and/or generation:
“Genius as an explosive power beats gunpowder hollow; and if knowledge, which should give that power guidance, is wanting, the chances are not small that the rocket will simply run amuck among friends and foes.”
—Thomas Henry Huxley (182595)
“There is hardly an American male of my generation who has not at one time or another tried to master the victory cry of the great ape as it issued from the androgynous chest of Johnny Weissmuller, to the accompaniment of thousands of arms and legs snapping during attempts to swing from tree to tree in the backyards of the Republic.”
—Gore Vidal (b. 1925)
