The following is an incomplete list of sports stadia in Africa. They are ordered by their capacity, that is the maximum number of spectators the stadium can accommodate. Most large stadia in Africa are used for football (soccer), with some also used for athletics and rugby union. Currently all African stadia with a capacity of 30,000 or more are included. Soccer City in Johannesburg is currently the largest stadium in Africa since its capacity was increased to 94,700 for the 2010 FIFA World Cup. This event, which took place in June–July, was the first time an African country has hosted the World Cup. The Olympic Games have never been staged in Africa.

Famous quotes containing the words list of, list, african and/or capacity:
“Loves boat has been shattered against the life of everyday. You and I are quits, and its useless to draw up a list of mutual hurts, sorrows, and pains.”
—Vladimir Mayakovsky (18931930)
“Hey, you dress up our town very nicely. You dont look out the Chamber of Commerce is going to list you in their publicity with the local attractions.”
—Robert M. Fresco, and Jack Arnold. Dr. Matt Hastings (John Agar)
“The writer in me can look as far as an African-American woman and stop. Often that writer looks through the African-American woman. Race is a layer of being, but not a culmination.”
—Thylias Moss, African American poet. As quoted in the Wall Street Journal (May 12, 1994)
“The capacity of the female mind for studies of the highest order cannot be doubted, having been sufficiently illustrated by its works of genius, of erudition, and of science.”
—James Madison (17511836)
