Dictionary of Scientific Biography - Electronic Version

Electronic Version

In 2007, Charles Scribner's Sons published the Complete Dictionary of Scientific Biography as an e-book. It includes the complete text of both print editions, with a unified index and other finding aids. The e-book version is available as part of the Gale Virtual Reference Library. Many of the article are available online through HighBeam Research's encyclopedia portal (through a series of acquisitions both Charles Scribner's Sons and HighBeam Research are both owned by Cengage Learning).

Famous quotes containing the words electronic and/or version:

The car as we know it is on the way out. To a large extent, I deplore its passing, for as a basically old- fashioned machine, it enshrines a basically old-fashioned idea: freedom. In terms of pollution, noise and human life, the price of that freedom may be high, but perhaps the car, by the very muddle and confusion it causes, may be holding back the remorseless spread of the regimented, electronic society.
    —J.G. (James Graham)

If the only new thing we have to offer is an improved version of the past, then today can only be inferior to yesterday. Hypnotised by images of the past, we risk losing all capacity for creative change.
    Robert Hewison (b. 1943)
