In Word Processors
Microsoft Word for Windows has permitted font embedding in some document formats since Word 97 (such as .doc or .rtf). But this feature does not work correctly in some Word versions.
OpenOffice.org supports font embedding in the PDF export feature.
Font embedding in word processors is not widely supported. For example, if an RTF file with embedded font is opened in other word processor than MS Word, it will usually remove embedded fonts.

Famous quotes containing the words word and/or processors:
“The thought is merely a sign, as the word is merely a sign for the thought.”
—Friedrich Nietzsche (18441900)
“The information links are like nerves that pervade and help to animate the human organism. The sensors and monitors are analogous to the human senses that put us in touch with the world. Data bases correspond to memory; the information processors perform the function of human reasoning and comprehension. Once the postmodern infrastructure is reasonably integrated, it will greatly exceed human intelligence in reach, acuity, capacity, and precision.”
—Albert Borgman, U.S. educator, author. Crossing the Postmodern Divide, ch. 4, University of Chicago Press (1992)
