Chinese Nationalism

Chinese nationalism (simplified Chinese: 中国民族主义; traditional Chinese: 中國民族主義; pinyin: Zhōngguó mínzúzhǔyì), sometimes synonymous with Chinese patriotism (simplified Chinese: 爱国主义; traditional Chinese: 愛國主義; pinyin: àiguó zhǔyì lit. Love country ideology) refers to the nationalism of the Chinese people and Chinese culture. Nationalism takes on many forms. Jeffrey Wasserstrom argues that it is misleading to view Chinese nationalism as a single phenomenon: "The tale of Chinese nationalism, or rather Chinese nationalisms, decidedly in the plural, is one that needs to be told in a manner that focuses not just on black and white definitions but makes room for many shades of gray."
