The Tolkien Trust is a British charity founded in 1977 that manages J. R. R. Tolkien's estate (the Tolkien Estate). Currently, it is one of the supporters of the WWF in the United Kingdom.
On February 11, 2008, together with Tolkien's publisher HarperCollins, it filed a suit against New Line Cinema over the profits of the The Lord of the Rings film trilogy. On September 8, 2009, a settlement between the Trust and New Line was announced, clearing a potential obstacle to the making of a new movie based on The Hobbit.
Famous quotes containing the word trust:
“We have been educated to such a fineor dullpoint that we are incapable of enjoying something new, something different, until we are first told what its all about. We dont trust our five senses; we rely on our critics and educators, all of whom are failures in the realm of creation. In short, the blind lead the blind. Its the democratic way.”
—Henry Miller (18911980)
