Artist Diploma in Orchestral Studies
The Autumn of 2013 will mark the inaugural season of the Academy Orchestra's Artist Diploma Program. The purpose of this intensive one-year course is to offer an education that focuses specifically on the practical skills necessary to prepare for orchestral auditions. Coursework includes weekly lessons, weekly excerpt classes, master classes, mock auditions, and the opportunity to rehearse and perform alongside members of the San Francisco Symphony. Completion of the curriculum will result in the Academy Orchestra Artist Diploma in Orchestral Studies and potentially the Academy Prize in recognition of one musician who demonstrates outstanding artistry.

Famous quotes containing the words studies, artist and/or diploma:
“The conduct of a man, who studies philosophy in this careless manner, is more truly sceptical than that of any one, who feeling in himself an inclination to it, is yet so over-whelmd with doubts and scruples, as totally to reject it. A true sceptic will be diffident of his philosophical doubts, as well as of his philosophical conviction; and will never refuse any innocent satisfaction, which offers itself, upon account of either of them.”
—David Hume (17111776)
“An artist should remain true. Otherwise his talent, like his stomach, grows fat and stuffy.”
—Norman Reilly Raine (18951971)
“Our father has an even more important function than modeling manhood for us. He is also the authority to let us relax the requirements of the masculine model: if our father accepts us, then that declares us masculine enough to join the company of men. We, in effect, have our diploma in masculinity and can go on to develop other skills.”
—Frank Pittman (20th century)
