Female Bodybuilding
Female bodybuilders are graded into three weight categories:
- Lightweight (up to and including 115 lbs)
- Middleweight (up to and including 126 lbs)
- Heavyweight (over 126 lbs)
Mandatory poses:
- Side Chest Pose
- Front Double Biceps Pose
- Back Double Biceps Pose
- Abdominals and Thighs Pose
- Most Muscular Pose
- Side Triceps Pose
- Front Lat Spread Pose
- Back Lat Spread Pose
Prejudging:
- Elimination - All competitors come into the stage together and five at a time are required to strike the eight mandatory poses. The 15 best competitors are selected by the judges and the other are eliminated from competition.
- Semifinals - The 15 competitors are then called back on stage as a group, in a relaxed stance in frontal and back positions for comparison. They will then strike the eight mandatory poses, five or six athletes at a time. After this, the six best competitors are selected by the judges as finalists.
Final Presentation:
- Posedown - The six finalists perform their free posing routines individually with music.
- Finals - The six finalists then strike eight mandatory poses for comparison, as in the Semifinals. The competitor with the best score is declared the winner.

Famous quotes containing the word female:
“Jail sentences have many functions, but one is surely to send a message about what our society abhors and what it values. This week, the equation was twofold: female infidelity twice as bad as male abuse, the life of a woman half as valuable as that of a man. The killing of the woman taken in adultery has a long history and survives today in many cultures. One of those is our own.”
—Anna Quindlen (b. 1952)
