Pembrey Country Park

Pembrey Country Park is a country park on the coast of South Wales, near the village of Pembrey, Carmarthenshire, and the town of Llanelli.

Pembrey Country Park consists of some 500 acres (200 ha) of parkland. Its southern edge is formed by the 8 miles (13 km) long Cefn Sidan beach. The park contains visitor attractions such as ski slope, adventure play areas and mountain bike trails.

The land which the park is located served industrial uses in the 20th century. Railway lines, World War II bunkers and pillboxes still remain.

Famous quotes containing the words country and/or park:

And this mighty master of the organ of language, who knew its every stop and pipe, who could awaken at will the thin silver tones of its slenderest reeds or the solemn cadence of its deepest thunder, who could make it sing like a flute or roar like a cataract, he was born into a country without literature.
    Willa Cather (1873–1947)

Linnæus, setting out for Lapland, surveys his “comb” and “spare shirt,” “leathern breeches” and “gauze cap to keep off gnats,” with as much complacency as Bonaparte a park of artillery for the Russian campaign. The quiet bravery of the man is admirable.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
