Meretz (Hebrew: מרצ, lit. Energy), previously known as Yachad, Meretz-Yachad (Hebrew: מרצ-יחד) and New Movement-Meretz (Hebrew: התנועה החדשה-מרצ) is a left-wing, Zionist, social- democratic political party in Israel.
The party emphasizes peace with the Palestinians, human rights (especially for ethnic and sexual minorities), religious freedom and environmentalism.
