Selected Species
This nearly comprehensive species list has been adapted from the one used by the Magnolia Society. It does not represent the last word on the subclassification of the genus Magnolia (see above), as a clear consensus has not yet been reached.
The list is presented as three subgenera, 12 sections, and 13 subsections.
Each species entry follows the following pattern:

Famous quotes containing the words selected and/or species:
“The final flat of the hoes approval stamp
Is reserved for the bed of a few selected seed.”
—Robert Frost (18741963)
“Thus all probable reasoning is nothing but a species of sensation. Tis not solely in poetry and music, we must follow our taste and sentiment, but likewise in philosophy, When I am convincd of any principle, tis only an idea which strikes more strongly upon me. When I give the preference to one set of arguments above another, I do nothing but decide from my feeling concerning the superiority of their influence.”
—David Hume (17111776)
