List Of Newfoundland And Labrador General Assemblies

The Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador has had 46 general assemblies, 29 as the Dominion of Newfoundland. The General Assembly consisted of both an appointed Legislative Council and an elected House of Assembly. Both bodies were suspended in 1934 with the creation of the Commission of Government but when the House of Assembly was re-instated in 1949 the Legislative Council was not and the General Assembly became unicameral. The 44th General Assembly changed the name of the province to Newfoundland and Labrador, from Newfoundland, on 6 December 2001.
