5643 was built at the Great Western Swindon Works to work in South Wales with the remainder of the class. She was withdrawn after 38 years in service in the summer of 1963 and moved to the Woodham Brothers Scrapyard at Barry to be cut up for future sale. Having avoided major damage, she left in 1983 for Carnforth before being purchased by the Lakeside Railway Society and moving to their base at Haverthwaite. Restoration continued soon after the move and she ran her first trains in 2006 at Llangollen, where she has been based ever since. Boiler ticket expires in 2016. BR Green with Late Crest. Furness Railway Trust. 1925
No. 5199 GWR 5101 Class

5199 spent most of her service career on GWR's Birmingham suburban lines, working local passenger trains. She was retired in 1963 when steam services were taken over by railcars, and remained in storage at Barry Scrapyard for 22 years. Her first home in preservation was the GWSR, where restoration was originally started, but she moved Long Marston MoD and later Llangollen for the completion of her overhaul, finally returning to steam in 2003. 5199 returned from an extended loan period at the Churnet Valley Railway in Spring 2012 to participate in the Steam, Steel and Stars III steam gala event. It is expected that the locomotive will be repainted into BR Black specifically for this occasion. Boiler ticket expires in 2013. BR Green with Early Crest. 5199 Project. 1934
No. 6430 GWR 6400 Class
0-6-0PT
The 6400 series of pannier tanks were equipped to operate autotrains. 6430 was built at Swindon railway works and entered service in February 1937, the first of its class to have a whistle shield. It spent many years in Wales although it was based at Laira for much of 1962. In April 1963 it was moved to Exmouth Junction from where it worked until it was condemned on 2 October 1964. On 5 June 1965 it started its career in preservation, moving initially to the Dart Valley Railway. Its boiler ticket expires in 2013. However, it recently made a return to the Dart Valley Railway to cover up for the lack of steam engines the South Devon Railway has during the summer. It also appeared in some of the earliest scenes of 'Five Go to Rehab' (Gold TV November 2012) BR Green with Early Crest. Private owner. 1937
