Sean Riley was the father of Concepta Riley who came to Weatherfield weeks before Concepta's wedding to Harry Hewitt was due to take place. Sean and his wife Shelagh were initially apprehensive due to Harry not being a Catholic, but he soon won them over in time for the wedding.
In 1964, Sean's retirement led to Harry and Concepta moving to Ireland to take over the running of the family garage business.
