Cross-sex Friendship
Cross-sex friendship refers to nonromantic, non-familial, personal relationship between a man and a woman. The relationship is nonromantic in the sense that its function is purposefully dissociated from courtship rites by the two involved. Nonromantic does not mean that sexuality and passion are necessarily absent from the relationship. The most prevalent form of attraction was friendship attraction. Cross-sex friendships are often referred to as “crushes” and do become common in young adulthood.
