Atomic Units - Fundamental Atomic Units

Fundamental Atomic Units

These four fundamental constants form the basis of the atomic units (see above). Therefore, their numerical values in the atomic units are unity by definition.

Fundamental atomic units
Dimension Name Symbol/Definition Value in SI units
mass electron rest mass 9.10938291(40)×10−31 kg

Famous quotes containing the words fundamental, atomic and/or units:

I believe the declaration that “all men are created equal” is the great fundamental principle upon which our free institutions rest.
    Abraham Lincoln (1809–1865)

No atomic physicist has to worry, people will always want to kill other people on a mass scale. Sure, he’s got the fridge full of sausages and spring water.
    William Burroughs (b. 1914)

Even in harmonious families there is this double life: the group life, which is the one we can observe in our neighbour’s household, and, underneath, another—secret and passionate and intense—which is the real life that stamps the faces and gives character to the voices of our friends. Always in his mind each member of these social units is escaping, running away, trying to break the net which circumstances and his own affections have woven about him.
    Willa Cather (1873–1947)
