Early Life
At the age of 13, Kuney's father moved the family from their home in Oklahoma to Honduras to live as missionaries after he saw a video highlighting the destruction of Hurricane Mitch.
In March 2003, while on a Guatemala sightseeing trip at the age of 17, Kuney and her friends were kidnapped by a group of rebels who eventually let them go. Kuney used this experience to focus her songwriting efforts and wrote the song "How the Wind Must Feel" about the experience.

Famous quotes containing the words early and/or life:
“I got a little secretarial job after college, but I thought of it as a prelude. Education, work, whatever you did before marriage, was only a prelude to your real life, which was marriage.”
—Bonnie Carr (c. early 1930s)
“The happiest excitement in life is to be convinced that one is fighting for all one is worth on behalf of some clearly seen and deeply felt good, and against some greatly scorned evil.”
