“Well gentlemen, this is it. This is what weve been waiting for. Tonight your target is Tokyo. And youre gonna play em the Star Spangled Banner with two-ton bombs. All youve got to do is to remember what youve learned and follow your squadron leaders. Theyll get you in, and theyll get you out. Any questions? All right thats all. Good luck to you. Give em hell.”

“It may seem strange that any road through such a wilderness should be passable, even in winter, when the snow is three or four feet deep, but at that season, wherever lumbering operations are actively carried on, teams are continually passing on the single track, and it becomes as smooth almost as a railway.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
“Research shows clearly that parents who have modeled nurturant, reassuring responses to infants fears and distress by soothing words and stroking gentleness have toddlers who already can stroke a crying childs hair. Toddlers whose special adults model kindliness will even pick up a cookie dropped from a peers high chair and return it to the crying peer rather than eat it themselves!”
—Alice Sterling Honig (20th century)
