1997 FIA GT Championship Season

The 1997 FIA GT Championship season was the first season of FIA GT Championship motor racing. It featured a series for Grand Touring style cars broken into two classes based on power and manufacturer involvement, called GT1 and GT2. The series began on April 13, 1997 and ended on October 26, 1997 after 11 rounds.

The FIA GT Championship replaced the BPR Global GT Series in 1997, although the rules stayed mostly the same.

Famous quotes containing the word season:

The landscape was clothed in a mild and quiet light, in which the woods and fences checkered and partitioned it with new regularity, and rough and uneven fields stretched away with lawn-like smoothness to the horizon, and the clouds, finely distinct and picturesque, seemed a fit drapery to hang over fairyland. The world seemed decked for some holiday or prouder pageantry ... like a green lane into a country maze, at the season when fruit-trees are in blossom.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
