itself but pours its abundance without selection into every
nook and cranny”

—Washington, DC, Policeman. quoted by P.J. ORourke in Rolling Stone (New York, 30 Nov. 1989)
“He saw, he wishd, and to the prize aspird.
Resolvd to win, he meditates the way,

For when success a lovers toil attends,
Few ask, if fraud or force attaind his ends.”

“Then must you speak
Of one the lovd not wisely but too well;
Of one not easily jealous, but, being wrought,
Perplexd in the extreme; of one whose hand,
Like the base Indian, threw a pearl away
Richer than all his tribe;”
—William Shakespeare (15641616)
