Orange Spotted Filefish

The orange spotted filefish or harlequin filefish, Oxymonacanthus longirostris, is a filefish in the family Monacanthidae found on coral reefs in the Indo-Pacific Oceans. The orangespotted filefish is a different species and refers to Cantherhines pullus.

The orange spotted filefish is pale blue with about eight longitudinal rows of orange-yellow patches. In the wild it feeds almost exclusively on Acropora polyps.

Famous quotes containing the words orange and/or spotted:

the great orange bed where we lie
like two frozen paintings in a field of poppies.
    Anne Sexton (1928–1974)

Two feathered guests from Alabama, two together,
And their nest, and four light-green eggs spotted with brown,
And every day the he-bird to and fro near at hand,
And every day the she-bird crouched on her nest, silent, with bright
    eyes,
And every day I, a curious boy, never too close, never disturbing
    them,
    Cautiously peering, absorbing, translating.
    Walt Whitman (1819–1892)
