The 2005 FA Community Shield was the 83rd FA Community Shield, the annual football match contested by the reigning champions of the Premier League and the holders of the FA Cup. It was held at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff on 7 August 2005. The game was played between Chelsea, champions of the 2004–05 Premier League and Arsenal, who beat Manchester United on penalties to win the 2005 FA Cup Final. Two-time winners Chelsea were appearing in their fourth Community Shield whereas Arsenal made their 16th appearance and seeked to win their 13th Shield.
