Two-cylinder Engine

A Two-cylinder engine is a reciprocating engine which has two cylinders. The cylinders and the crankshaft which drives the pistons can be configured in various ways.

Configurations of two-cylinder engine include:

  • Straight-two engine, with two cylinders in parallel sharing a crankshaft
  • V-twin engine, two cylinders sharing a crankshaft at an angle
  • Flat-twin engine, having both cylinders on the same crankshaft at 180° to each other
  • U engine with two cylinders with separate crankshafts

Famous quotes containing the word engine:

Industrial man—a sentient reciprocating engine having a fluctuating output, coupled to an iron wheel revolving with uniform velocity. And then we wonder why this should be the golden age of revolution and mental derangement.
    Aldous Huxley (1894–1963)
