The 2008 Vios had the tagline "My Design, My Pride" and currently has 4 grades: the base 1.3 J, with almost the same specs as to that of the J grade of the 2003 Vios, only that it had a 14" steel wheel with wheel cover, an all-new central analogue display, vinyl shift lever and knob, manual locks and windows and fabric seats. It is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The 1.3 E is the same as the J grade, only that it has 14" alloy wheels, Toyota Vehicle Security System, ABS and driver-side SRS airbags.
The 1.5 G has 3 options: G 4 A/T leather, G 4 A/T or G 5 M/T. It has a 1.5 1NZ-FE engine, leather seats for the leather sub-variant, 4-speed automatic transmission or 5-manual transmission, 2 SRS airbags, power folding mirrors, steering wheel audio controls, aluminum look center panel, optitron gauges with trip computer, bigger 4 wheel discs and 15" alloy wheels. The G 4 A/T leather is the most expensive variant. It is more expensive than even later special edition models, but comes with standard leather, 60/40 split folding seats with fold down center armrest with built in beverage holders not found on all the other models.
The 1.5 G Limited XX Edition was released in July 2008. This is the same as the G variant, but comes with HID headlights, 17" 10-spoke alloy wheels and a small rubber spoiler. The 1.5 S also comes this spoiler and different 17" Rota Bolognia Mags with 205/45 tires. The G XX Limited and S variants were released in different color schemes.
The current face-lifted model was launched on April 6, 2010, with a new front grille, new headlamp and tail lamp assemblies, and newly-designed 15" alloy wheels (for the G grade). It is still available in three variants: the base 1.3 J mated to a 5-speed manual transmission, the 1.3 E, with the choice of a 5-speed manual or the now available 4-speed automatic transmission, and the 1.5 G, still with 3 options: G 4 A/T leather, G 4 A/T or G 5 M/T. It has been advertised with the tagline "Happy Driving". For 2012, a 1.3 liter engine for the G variant was released, and it was mated to a 4-speed automatic transmission, then later a 5-speed manual transmission, a variant lower than the J variant called the 1.3 Base which came only in a 5-speed manual transmission, and a minor change to the 1.3J variant to create the 1.3J Limited variant that is equipped with 15"-inch wheels and tires. During late 2012, the E variant was discontinued to make way for the 1.3G variant. In 2013, the 1.5 TRD Sportivo variant was released.
