Sookmyung Women's University
Sookmyung Women’s University (Korean: 숙명여자대학교(淑明女子大學校)) is a private university in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, South Korea. Founded in 1906, Sookmyung is Korea’s first royal private educational institution for women. Our country's first national women's private school started with only five women students. Currently 13 thousand plus students are learning to become the higest esteemed women leaders of the 21st century. As its name indicates, Sookmyung is a clear and bright university that has endless potential. Sookmyung was hit by a scandal in 2012 in which its President, Han Young-sil, was involved in a battle with the university's board over misappropriation of funds.
