Intrigue
The closest way to describe emotional intrigue is flirting. The addict may talk to a prospective sexual and/or romantic partner or this may be imaginary. Other methods of intrigue include giving hugs or handshakes or massages. Intrigue can manifest in the form of texting, emailing, chat rooms or checking up on the person. Intrigue can also come in the form of simply being in the presence of the person. The addict warms themselves on the "fire" of their prospects presence and potential for sex, romance or love. Often the addict intrigues as a means of setting up a future sexual encounter or romantic liaison. Fantasy can play a role in the intriguing process.
