Rashidun Caliph (Rashidun Caliph) - Succession to Muhammad
◈ ◈
Some non-Muslim scholars reject all hadith as fabrications, which colors their views. Others, like Wilferd Madelung, accept the hadith literature. A few of them, like Lammens, hold a negative view of Ali. Madelung criticizes this school of thought and, like many other non-Muslim Islamic scholars, praised Ali.
Famous quotes containing the words view and/or ali:
“Now view yourself as I was, on the spot— With a slight kind of engine. Do you see? Like this . . . You wouldn’t hang me? I thought not.”” —Edwin Arlington Robinson (1869–1935)
“That was always the difference between Muhammad Ali and the rest of us. He came, he saw, and if he didn’t entirely conquer—he came as close as anybody we are likely to see in the lifetime of this doomed generation.” —Hunter S. Thompson (b. 1939)
