The Monaco Yacht Show (MYS) is an annual trade show in Monaco, where some of the newest luxury yachts are on display. The four-day event had its 17th anniversary in September, 2007, and features conferences and cocktail parties - basically a place to network and make new contacts. Over 500 exhibitors show off their products - the boats range from around 65 feet to over 250 feet in length. The MYS is held in Port Hercules, and is Europe's biggest in-water display of super and mega yachts.
Famous quotes containing the words monaco, yacht and/or show:
“If there is anything so romantic as that castle-palace-fortress of Monaco I have not seen it. If there is anything more delicious than the lovely terraces and villas of Monte Carlo I do not wish to see them. There is nothing beyond the semi-tropical vegetation, the projecting promontories into the Mediterranean, the all-embracing sweep of the ocean, the olive groves, and the enchanting climate! One gets tired of the word beautiful.”
—M. E. W. Sherwood (18261903)
“Ive given parties that have made Indian rajahs green with envy. Ive had prima donnas break $10,000 engagements to come to my smallest dinners. When you were still playing button back in Ohio, I entertained on a cruising trip that was so much fun that I had to sink my yacht to make my guests go home.”
—F. Scott Fitzgerald (18961940)
“When I show my grandchildren, I have a wonderful feeling of pride. I say, See that crane way, way up there? Grandma used to run a crane like that during the war.”
—Jennette Hyman Nuttall U.S. (former)
