In February 2012, an employment tribunal found that a teacher at Larne Grammar School, Julie Muldrew, had been the victim of sex discrimination resulting from the school's approach to part time working due to child care arrangements. After the removal of headmaster John Wilson, who formally apologized and gave her a sum of money to cover what her salary should have been if she had not been discriminated against, Julie Muldrew returned to the school, continuing her career as a top achieving, and very popular Spanish teacher.
