Honey Run Covered Bridge

Honey Run Bridge is a wooden covered bridge on Honey Run Road located about halfway in between Chico and Paradise in northern California. It is one of the few covered bridges left in California and is the only tri-span bridge in the United States. The Bridge was originally built in 1886 by George Miller and was later covered in 1894. The bridge crosses Butte Creek and intersects with Centerville Road in Butte County, California. It was open to traffic until a car crashed into it in 1965, causing it to collapse on the eastern span. An alternative steel bridge was built upstream for vehicular traffic; the old bridge is part of a county park and is used by pedestrians.

It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on June 23, 1988.

Famous quotes containing the words honey, run, covered and/or bridge:

The honey of heaven may or may not come,
But that of earth both comes and goes at once.
    Wallace Stevens (1879–1955)

Knowledge has two extremes. The first is the pure natural ignorance in which all men find themselves at birth. The other extreme is that reached by great minds, who, having run through all that men can know, find they know nothing, and come back again to that same natural ignorance from which they set out; this is a learned ignorance which is conscious of itself.
    Blaise Pascal (1623–1662)

The tracks of moose, more or less recent, to speak literally, covered every square rod on the sides of the mountain; and these animals are probably more numerous there now than ever before, being driven into this wilderness, from all sides, by the settlements.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

    I see four nuns
who sit like a bridge club,
    their faces poked out
    from under their habits,
    Anne Sexton (1928–1974)
