Hollywood Squares - 2012–present

2012–present

On March 30, 2012, MTV2 announced a fifth version of the show, aptly titled Hip Hop Squares. The new series, taped in Brooklyn, New York, debuted on May 22, 2012, with New York City radio personality Peter Rosenberg as host and Nicole Lyn Hill ("Ms Nix") as the DJ/announcer.

The show airs weekly, and follows the syndicated format, with $500 for each win (except the third game, if completed, $1,000) and $100 per square in an uncompleted game.

The Secret Square Round, renamed "The G-Spot", offers a $1,000 (non-score) cash bonus.

There are no returning champions.

As the title implies, several rap musicians have appeared on the panel, along with an assortment of stand-up comics, NYC radio personalities, and stars from other MTV and MTV2 series. Center Squares in the first season included Mac Miller, JB Smoove and Nick Cannon. DJ Khaled was the only panelist to appear in all eight episodes of season one.
