Fingal (from Irish: Fine Gall meaning "foreign tribe") is a county in Ireland. It is part of the Dublin Region and is also located in the province of Leinster. Its name is derived from the medieval territory of Scandinavian foreigners (Irish: gaill) that settled in the area. Fingal County Council is the local authority for the county. In 2011, the population of the county was 273,991 making it the second most populous county in the state.
