Desert Oasis High School - Orchestra

Orchestra

The orchestra department has had its share of changes. In the past four years since its inception, the Desert Oasis High School Orchestra program has had four director changes. Leonardo Hanson (2008-2009) was the first to direct the groups, followed by Brian Beddigs (2009-2010) and Mark Kovacs (2010-2011), also orchestra director at Tarkanian Middle School. And the 2011-2012 school year is no different in the fact that another director will again approach the podium, a very successful former band director, and current director of the Sierra Vista High School Orchestras, Alfonso Kimbrough. Desert Oasis' orchestra program has two classes held in the afternoon, Advanced Orchestra and Intermediate Orchestra.

Famous quotes containing the word orchestra:

    As the artist
    extends his world with
one gratuitous flourish—a stroke of white or
a run on the clarinet above the
bass tones of the orchestra ...
    Denise Levertov (b. 1923)

“Pop” Wyman ruled here with a firm but gentle hand; no drunken man was ever served at the bar; no married man was allowed to play at the tables; across the face of the large clock was written “Please Don’t Swear,” and over the orchestra appeared the gentle admonition, “Don’t Shoot the Pianist—He’s Doing His Damndest.”
