Crow - Life Span and Disease

Life Span and Disease

Crows reach sexual maturity around the age of 3 years for females and 5 years for males. Some crows may live to the age of 20, and the oldest known American crow in the wild was almost 30 years old.

The oldest captive crow documented died at age 59. The American crow is highly susceptible to the recently introduced North American strain of West Nile virus. American crows typically die within one week of acquiring the disease and very few survive exposure.

Famous quotes containing the words life, span and/or disease:

Some things in life are bad
They can really make you mad
Other things just make you swear and curse
When you’re chewing on life’s gristle
    Don’t grumble, give a whistle
And this’ll help turn things out for the best ...
And ... always look on the bright side of life.

Life’s brief span [vitae summa brevis] forbids us to enter on far-reaching hopes.

Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being, and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.
