Corpse Paint

Corpse paint or corpsepaint is a style of black-and-white makeup, used mainly by black metal bands during live concerts and photo shoots. The makeup is used to make the musicians appear inhuman, corpse-like, or demonic.

Corpse paint involves making the face and neck white and making the area around the eyes and lips black. Sometimes it is mixed with real or fake blood. Musicians will often have a 'trademark' style. Other colors are seldom used; Attila Csihar of Mayhem uses neon colors, while the Norwegian band Dødheimsgard has experimented using other colors.

Famous quotes containing the words corpse and/or paint:

Now, a corpse, poor thing, is an untouchable and the process of decay is, of all pieces of bad manners, the vulgarest imaginable. For a corpse is, by definition, a person absolutely devoid of savoir vivre.
    Aldous Huxley (1894–1963)

... while I may paint in the tints or outlines of rocks and beaches, dawns and harbor, fleet and wharf, I never draw portraits of my neighbors or of my friends.
    Elizabeth Stuart Phelps (1844–1911)
