Sherwood's Criticisms of 'Presidential Wannabes' in November 2003

On the 8th November 2003, Carlton Sherwood appeared on the Judicial Watch Report Radio Show. The host was Tom Fitton, Judicial Watch’s president. Sherwood had just returned from Iraq and was invited onto the show to talk (via telephone) about the worsening security situation. At about 42 minutes and 10 seconds into the show, Sherwood said this:

"Every time I get up in the morning and I turn on the cable news and I see that one or two more of our soldiers have been killed it’s like a kick in the guts to me, personally. But it’s also a double whammy because I know what soundbite’s going to follow that. And you’re right. It’ll be some wannabe - a Presidential wannabe, or one of their aides, carping, almost gleefully, using your word, almost gleefully that, uh, this is one more evidence of a failure."

Famous quotes containing the words sherwood, criticisms and/or november:

I did not find Liverpool ugly. Her stately public buildings, broad streets, public squares, and noble statues redeem her from the charge.
    —M. E. W. Sherwood (1826–1903)

I have no concern with any economic criticisms of the communist system; I cannot enquire into whether the abolition of private property is expedient or advantageous. But I am able to recognize that the psychological premises on which the system is based are an untenable illusion. In abolishing private property we deprive the human love of aggression of one of its instruments ... but we have in no way altered the differences in power and influence which are misused by aggressiveness.
    Sigmund Freud (1856–1939)

Not yesterday I learned to know
The love of bare November days
Before the coming of the snow....
    Robert Frost (1874–1963)
