Boulevard Périphérique is a controlled-access dual-carriageway ring road in Paris, France. One of the busiest roads in Europe, the Périphérique is the generally-accepted boundary between the city proper of Paris and its suburbs. With a few exceptions (see Structure and Layout), it is situated along Paris's administrative limit.
The speed limit is 80 km/h (50 mph). Each ring generally has four traffic lanes, with no hard shoulder. Due to the road's legal status, circulating traffic yields priority to entering vehicles.
When travelling at the legal speed limit, it takes around 26 minutes to complete a full circuit.

Famous quotes containing the word boulevard:
“Arrive in the afternoon, the late light slanting
In diluted gold bars across the boulevard brag
Of proud, seamed faces with mercy and murder hinting
here, there, interrupting, all deep and debonair,
The pink paint on the innocence of fear;
Walk in a gingerly manner up the hall.”
—Gwendolyn Brooks (b. 1917)
