Events On 30 May 1981
At 4 AM, three teams of army officiers attacked the Chittagong Circuit House where Ziaur Rahman was asleep at the time. In total there were 16 army officers as soldiers refused to join. They had 11 SMG, three Rocket Luncher and three grenade firing rifles. The important fact was all members of attacking team were commissioned office.
Main leaders of this attacking team were Colonel/Major Matiur Rahman (later killed during escape), Major Mahbub (later killed during escape)and Major Khaled ( escaped and was in India as of 1993). Lieutenant Colonel Fazle Hossain started the attack by firing two rocket luncher towards circuit house which created to large hole in the building. The officers then start searching the rooms to find Ziaur Rahman. Major Mojaffar ( escaped and was in India as of 1993) as of 1993) and Captain Moslehdudin found president first. Mosleh Uddin (caught and served life prison, was in USA as of 2010 ) informed Zia that they are here to take him to the cantonmnet. However, shortly Colonel Matiur Rahman arrived with another team and shot Zia from close range with a SMG.
