Local Government

The Township of Washington is governed under the Faulkner Act (Mayor-Council) system of municipal government by a mayor and a five-member Township Council.

As of 2012, the Mayor of the township is Janet Sobkowicz, who had been a councilwoman for 28 years and was elected Mayor in November 2009. Members of the Township Council are Council President Richard Hrbek, Glenn Beckmeyer, Dr. Steven Cascio, Fred Goetz and Joseph D'Urso.
