Ruger MK III - Changes From The Mark II

Changes From The Mark II

  • Addition of a visible loaded chamber indicator on the left side.
  • Magazine release moved, from bottom of grip to behind trigger guard.
  • All Mark III pistols with adjustable sights are drilled and tapped for a Weaver-style scope base which ships with the pistol.
  • A new magazine disconnect prevents the pistol from being fired with the magazine removed from the pistol. (See note below)
  • An internal safety lock has been added. Using a key, the safety can be locked in the "safe" position.
  • Shorter tapered bolt ears.
  • A smoothly contoured ejection port profile.

Note: The magazine disconnect can be removed by replacing the internal disconnect with a Mark III Magazine Disconnect Hammer Bushing. There are several vendors for this part and it readily available on Amazon, eBay, etc. By removing this part the Mark III will operate more like a Mark II and the magazine will not need to be inserted to perform the field cleaning.
