“Language is as real, as tangible, in our lives as streets, pipelines, telephone switchboards, microwaves, radioactivity, cloning laboratories, nuclear power stations.”
—Adrienne Rich (b. 1929)
“The problems of the world, AIDS, cancer, nuclear war, pollution, are, finally, no more solvable than the problem of a tree which has borne fruit: the apples are overripe and they are fallingwhat can be done?... Nothing can be done, and nothing needs to be done. Something is being donethe organism is preparing to rest.”

And Paris is a womans town, with flowers in her hair;
And its sweet to dream in Venice, and its great to study Rome;
But when it comes to living, there is no place like home.”
—Henry Van Dyke (18521933)
“So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth. The one who plants and the one who waters have a common purpose, and each will receive wages according to the labor of each. For we are Gods servants, working together; you are Gods field, Gods building.”
—Bible: New Testament, 1 Corinthians 3:7-9.
