Northern Soul (M People Album)

Northern Soul is the debut album by British house music band M People. It was originally released in November 1991. After the release of the single Excited, a new song not originally included on the album, it was re-released with an updated track listing in late 1992, reaching number 53 on the UK albums chart. Following the success of Elegant Slumming and Bizarre Fruit, this second version was re-issued in October 1995 and charted at number 26.

Famous quotes containing the words northern, soul and/or people:

The northern sky rose high and black
    Over the proud unfruitful sea,
East and west the ships came back
    Happily or unhappily....
    Philip Larkin (1922–1986)

The King [Charles II] after the Restoration accused the poet, Edmund Waller, of having made finer verses in praise of Oliver Cromwell than of himself; to which he agreed, saying, that Fiction was the soul of Poetry.
Philip Dormer Stanhope, 4th Earl Chesterfield (1694–1773)

The enthusiastic uprising of the people in our cause, is our great reliance; and we can not safely give it any check, even though it overflows, and runs in channels not laid down in any chart.
    Abraham Lincoln (1809–1865)
