Allen Fieldhouse

Allen Fieldhouse is an indoor arena located on the campus of the University of Kansas (KU) in city of Lawrence. The arena is named in honor of Dr. Forrest C. "Phog" Allen, a former coach of the university's Kansas Jayhawks men's basketball team whose tenure lasted 39 years. The Allen Fieldhouse is one of College basketball's most historically significant and prestigious buildings, with 37 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Tournament games having been hosted at the center. The actual playing surface has been named the James Naismith Court, in honor of basketball's inventor, who established Kansas' basketball program and served as the Jayhawks' first coach from 1898 to 1907.

Since the opening of Allen Fieldhouse in 1955, the Jayhawks have established a home record of 685-107 (.865), and since February 20, 1994, the Jayhawks have lost only 13 regular season games in the venue. Since February 3, 2007, the Jayhawks are 93-1 at home, making Allen Fieldhouse the single greatest home court advantage in all of sports.

On November 4, 2010, ESPN's online publication, The Magazine, named Allen Fieldhouse the loudest college basketball arena in the country, whilst prominent sportswriter, Mark Whicker, has publicly declared that the center is "the best place in America to watch college basketball."
