Arab World
With the formation of the modern nation states of the Arab World in the second half of the 20th century, European traditions of heraldry were partially adopted for state emblems.
These emblems often involve the star and crescent symbol taken from the Ottoman flag. Another commonly seen charge is the eagle, which is a symbol attributed to Saladin, and the hawk of the Qureish.
