Ben is often a shortened version of the given name Benjamin, Benedict, Bengt, Bennett, Benoit, Benvolio or less commonly Bentley, although it is also used as a formal given name in its own right.
In Arabic and Hebrew "Ben" means "son of" or "Leader".
