What is heritage site?

Heritage Site

A heritage site is a location designated by the governing body of a township, county, province, state or country as important to the cultural heritage of a community. The term usually refers to a non-moveable object such as a historic site or national monument, but it may include multiple sites grouped together such as fortifications or buildings situated along special roadways. Heritage sites are generally protected by the local town's protection agency but, for objects that are nationally or internationally protected, sometimes more than one agency is involved in their protection.

The heritage of the American Revolution is forgotten, and the American government, for better and for worse, has entered into the heritage of Europe as though it were its patrimony—unaware, alas, of the fact that Europe’s declining power was preceded and accompanied by political bankruptcy, the bankruptcy of the nation-state and its concept of sovereignty.
