Midgetville - Mississauga, Ontario

Mississauga, Ontario

Local myth describes a midgetville located near the Barbertown area of Streetsville. It contains 7 to 8 small houses and a small playground. The site is blocked off with a fence that sounds an alarm if anybody touches it. The houses and playground can be seen from afar from beyond the chainlinked fence. It has become a common place for teenagers to come with their friends to see the village.

It is not a "midgetville" but in fact a Slovakian Living area for immigrants which opened back in the 1950s. No longer in use, it is allowed for people to rent it out for public events since there is outdoor/indoor eating areas, bathrooms, showers and a pool. The Midget rumour came from local people seeing the tiny houses and trailers, leading to the assumption of little people living in the hidden area. These are however lies, as no midgets have ever been seen. .
