Initial Advantage

Initial Advantage (IA) is a recognized 501(C)3 non-profit organization based in Boston, Massachusetts, United States, whose mission is to connect young, student entrepreneurs with the resources and guidance they need to be successful.

Initial Advantage was founded by David Tranen and Aaron O'Hearn while in school at Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts. The two were closely followed by a group of Clark University students strongly committed to academics, with a serious focus and interest in pursuing their passion and putting ideas into action to make a difference.

Today, Initial Advantage uses its Network of Connectors to put student entrepreneurs in touch with the right people. The organization also takes an active approach in fostering mentor–mentee relationships between the entrepreneurs and key mentors, and will offer the entrepreneurs access to seed funding through IA's own fund.

Throughout its life cycle, Initial Advantage has helped incubate and launch a host of start-ups that include:

  • IPS
  • Onslaught Battle Circuit
  • Campus Book Brokerage
  • Rosenak & Co.
  • International Investment Strategies
  • MyForeignAid
