Famous quotes containing the words clarence darrow, house, clarence and/or darrow:

With all their faults, trade-unions have done more for humanity than any other organization of men that ever existed. They have done more for decency, for honesty, for education, for the betterment of the race, for the developing of character in man, than any other association of men.
    Clarence Darrow (1857–1938)

And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not act on them will be like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell-and great was its fall!
    Bible: New Testament, Matthew 7:26-27.

Just a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down.
Richard Sherman, songwriter, Robert Sherman, songwriter, and Clarence Brown. A Spoonful of Sugar (song)

I do not pretend to know where many ignorant men are sure—that is all that agnosticism means.
    —Clarence Darrow (1857–1938)
