Church of The Incarnation (Dallas, Texas) - Music - Contemporary Music

Contemporary Music

The church's contemporary music program is headed by Justin Brooks and consists of a praise band-style group of instrumentalists. The contemporary "Uptown" services are held simultaneously with their traditional counterparts at 9:00 am, 11:15 am, and 5:30 pm on Sundays. The 9:00 am and 5:30 pm services are held in the Memorial Chapel, which was the main sanctuary of the church prior to the construction of the new larger one to house the traditional services. Due to significant growth, the 11:15 am service has been moved to the Great Hall, which was subsequently modified to accommodate it. This move in intended to be temporary as the parish evaluates the possibility of a further expansion.

Famous quotes containing the words music and/or contemporary:

As polishing expresses the vein in marble, and grain in wood, so music brings out what of heroic lurks anywhere. The hero is the sole patron of music.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

Eclecticism is the degree zero of contemporary general culture: one listens to reggae, watches a western, eats McDonald’s food for lunch and local cuisine for dinner, wears Paris perfume in Tokyo and “retro” clothes in Hong Kong; knowledge is a matter for TV games. It is easy to find a public for eclectic works.
    Jean François Lyotard (b. 1924)
